CONTAINER SIZE SELECTION GUIDE

Refrigerated containers are handy for many different purposes, and one of their most significant advantages is that they are produced in three standardised sizes. To make things simple, the height and width of all Spacewise containers are fixed, with their length being the only difference. Thus, you can choose between 10ft, 20ft, and 40ft containers depending on the number of goods that need to be stored alongside other factors.

For someone who isn't a storage professional, it can be hard to visualise how much space there is in a container of each size. So we created a simple guide to help you pick a container that perfectly fits your company's needs.

10ft container – Compact units ideal for small spaces

Dimensions: 10ft x 8ft x 9ft 6’’ (2.9 m x 2.4 m x 2.8 m)

Approximate capacity: 4 palettes per layer

Commonly used for: Packaged goods, fresh food & dairy, various commodities and temperature sensitive electronic equipment.

Our smallest containers are almost cubic and designed to fit in compact spaces. They provide a deceptively large amount of space sufficient, ideal for commercial use on a smaller scale; for example, they are often used as auxiliary storage at public events. Refrigerated containers of this size are suitable for storing a range of fresh foodstuffs, prepared meals and drinks.

20ft container – Medium-sized containers with broad applicability

Dimensions: 20ft x 8ft x 9ft 6’’ (5.8 m x 2.4 m x 2.8 m)

Approximate capacity: 9-10 palettes per layer

Commonly used for: Raw materials, industrial products, foodstuffs, pharmaceuticals, excess seasonal stock.

The flexibility and cost-effectiveness of Spacewise 20ft Refrigerated Containers are tough to match! This is why they are commonly found in a wide range of locations and used by many different industries. Our reliable medium-sized containers represent a great combination of practicality and sheer volume, as they are manoeuvrable yet capable of accommodating large batches of goods.

40ft container – Massive storage volume with a minimum of hassle

Dimensions: 40ft x 8ft x 9ft 6’’ (11.6 m x 2.4 m x 2.8 m)

Approximate capacity: 18-20 palettes per layer

Commonly used for: Bulk agricultural goods, to stock large shops, manufactured stock.

Finally, customers that require vast amounts of refrigerated space would probably be best served with our 40ft containers. Their elongated shape with a door on one end makes them suitable for grouping or stacking. This container model can deliver the most significant savings compared to traditional storage, as they offer a very favourable ratio between volume and cost.
